Future Initiatives Contested at Aydem's Innovatie Ideas Camp

Aydem Perakende and Gediz Perakende, the electricity retail arms of Aydem Energy, held the second “Innovative Ideas Camp” on December 12 in collaboration with and hosted by Pamukkale University.

The event, organized with involvement from university students nationwide, received applications from 19 universities featuring a total of 69 projects focused on Energy Systems, IoT Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Smart Cities, and E-Mobility. Following the initial evaluation stage, 20 projects were short-listed, and these were further developed with mentors throughout the camp. The jury members assessed the projects based on criteria such as purpose, significance, originality, added value, and practicality. The first three successful projects received awards.

The winning team, Energy Guardians from Süleyman Demirel University, created an AI-assisted monitoring system to proactively identify issues in power transformers. Developed by Nazım Can Öztürk and Nida Ayça Yavuz, this project seeks to avert power failures and prolong transformer lifespan by identifying insulation issues in transformers at an early phase. The system consistently tracks the temperature and pressure readings of transformers via sensors to identify and recognize unusual conditions.

The second place, Team DUCK from Pamukkale University, developed a system that evaluates energy usage patterns and assists people in conserving energy. Developed by Enes Gürbüz and Mehmet Furkan Kesgin, the project provides energy consumption profiles of devices used in homes and businesses and offers savings suggestions to users. The system evaluates the energy consumption of various devices using AI-driven algorithms and motivates users to embrace energy-efficient habits.

In the third place, Team InoTech from Pamukkale University developed a monitoring system called PipeWatch to identify issues in sewage infrastructure. Created by Yiğit Turgut Argıtlı and İlteriş Aykol, this project consistently observes sewage systems using intelligent sensors and solar power assistance. This system identifies sudden changes in water level and potential blockages in advance, thereby minimizing environmental hazards and enhancing infrastructure management efficiency for urban areas. The system is designed to safeguard public health and lower maintenance expenses by avoiding floods. Furthermore, it assists local governments in planning infrastructure investments through data analysis.
